How the Double Rope Mechanical Grab Works

1. Positioning: The supporting wire ropes lift the grab to the desired height above the material pile.

2. Opening: The closing rope is released. The weight of the lower cross beam forces the grab jaws to pivot open around the main shaft until stopped by the pad eye stops.

3. Lowering: The opened grab is lowered onto the bulk material pile by releasing both supporting and closing ropes.

4. Closing & Grabbing: The closing rope is retracted. This action pulls the upper and lower cross beams closer together, forcing the jaws to close and penetrate the material, filling the bucket.

5. Lifting & Transporting: With the bucket full and closed, the grab is lifted via the supporting ropes and moved to the discharge location by the crane.

6. Unloading: At the discharge point, the closing rope is released again, allowing the jaws to open and dump the material.
